Creating
a Website
Websites
are one of the best ways to earn revenue online if you know what you
are doing. The concept of creating a website can be quite
simple but actually making a website will take time and effort,
especially when you try to advertise the website. Websites
allow people a venue to share their experience, ideas, etc. while also
being able to profit off of them through advertisements, affiliations,
etc. Wikipedia defines a website as a collection of webpages,
images, other other digital assets that is hosted on one or several web
servers that is usually accessible via internet, cell phone, or a local
area network.
Steps
to creating a website, a very abbreviated form of my article on this
topic located at Creating
Your First Website:
1.
Conceptualize an idea for a new website, try to pick something new and
unique but most importantly something that is truly important to you.
2.
Pick a domain name, I'd suggest that you use a free domain name checker
from a website like GoDaddy.
3.
Write the content for your website, I wrote all of my content in
Microsoft Word before starting my design.
4.
Design your website, I'd suggest using a WYSIWYG editor such as Nvu,
this site is designed using SiteStudio provided free from my webhost.
5. Download
both FireFox and Internet Explorer 7, there is no other way to make
sure your website looks as it should in both browsers. I use
Firefox for the majority of my browsing and when you hit the
advertising stage you will see why, do yourself a favor and download it
if you aren't already using it.
6.
Find a webhosting service that is right for you, the best webhost I
have encountered thus far is the one I currently use, IX
WebHosting for all of my websites.
7.
Monzetize your website, as you probably noticed my website is monetized
by Google's AdSense. If not the shiny button will make sure
you realize it. This is by far the easiest and overall best
way to make money from your website, but others can be found on my
Advertising and Affiliation page.
8.
Advertise your website, get the word out there about whatever your
topic is and watch the money roll in. If you want to pay to
advertise your website I'd highly recommend using Google AdWords for
targetted traffic.
